All of my pdf files are now opening with acrobat reader dc and I cannot print form fields only

The free install is the Reader only. If you need other options that are not included with the reader, you need to buy the Acrobat Standard or the Acrobat Professional subscription.

Do you have both Acrobat DC and Reader DC installed on the same system. If so, why? Makes no sense at all. Everything you can do with Reader can be done with Acrobat. Plus you avoid the file suffix ownership issues (at least between Adobe applications).

I just did the free install.  What it installed is called Acrobat Reader DC. I tried uninstalling but I get an error 2502 and 2503.

What did change on your machine? New installs? Upgrades?

You can change the default program by doing a right click on a PDF file and using « open with ».

But there may be a different reason. When you have the Reader open all subsequent files open with the reader. You need to close the reader and open Acrobat DC.
