All Shape Drawing Tools not Registering Click for Second Vertex Placement when Protected Mode is Enabled

When using any of the Acrobat shape drawing tools (line, arrow, rectangle, oval, etc.), Acrobat places the first “vertex” of the selected shape on the canvas where clicked (as it should).  Then, when moving the mouse to the desired location of the second vertex, the shape resizes visually to preview what it will look like once the second vertex is placed (as it should).  But then, when clicking to place the second vertex, Acrobat behaves as if the mouse actually never gets clicked, and the shape never actually gets placed, and it continues to resize when the mouse is subsequently moved to a different location on the canvas.

The above problem doesn’t exist when protected mode is disabled.  Nor does the problem exist immediately after using the AcroCleaner tool and reinstalling Acrobat, though after the first shape is successfully placed, the problem returns for subsequent operations.

    Temporary workaround

Menu → Preferences → Security (Enhanced)

Turn off both Protected Mode and Run in AppContainer
