application conflict error

I am trying to install Adobe Acrobat. The error is "Application Conflict - Safari needs to be closed to proceed with acrobat installation. Please close and retry." Safari is closed and I have rebutted mu computer but the same error comes up at about 45% download complete. How do I resolve this issue?
