Authorization Failure

In Acrobat Pro XI Version 11.0.17, on Win7-SP1, I get an Authorization Failure using Append All Links on Page.. in the Web Capture tool when attempting to retrieve a PDF from an intranet HTTP document link. 

However, the document is retrieved if I use the equivalent call in acrobat JavaScript this.getURL("link to document", true);

Now the odd behaviour.  After making this call, the menu item Append All Links on Page.. now works.  I am never prompted for any authentication. 

I can't deploy the workaround.  The menu item needs to work.  I am retrieving 500+ documents. 

Any ideas?  Does the getURL() bypass the authorization?
