Question

Auto field detection

I use Acrobat PRO for construction of fillable PDF forms (according to the Swedish national standard for forms). I prepare my original in Word by using tables and grids (border lines around every field/cell) and a label (i.e. Name) in upper left corner of every cell.

When I then prepare the form in Acrobat Pro DC the “auto field detection” defines fields from right end of the label to the right side border line, which means I have to adjust height and length for every field in the form.

I would like the “auto field detection” to define fields from the left side to the right side of the border line and give the correct field-height and -length for me. The first time I prepared a form the program behaved like this, but soon changed to the situation described above, which gives me a lot of “extra” job…

There's not much that can be done about it. If you find a way that works for you, stick with it. If it doesn't work for you you'll need to adjust the results manually. All PDF form developers have the same issue.

What makes me frustrated is that after installing DC this function worked correctly (as I wished) for the first form, but short after it was back to the "incorrect"  incorrect manner described above. There are also films on Yotube describing the auto field detection with forms designed with grids similar to mine, where this function works the way I would want it to do...
