Automate Word Search in Adobe Acrobat DC

Hello.

I have a task of searching a very large number of .pdf files for specific words.

I can automate the converting of each to word files (doc or docx), then invoke a macro in word, but would rather not.

Is there any such macro facility in Adobe Acrobat DC?

Thanks

William

Update by me for everyone's information

Found advanced search would allow any "single word" (ie one word at a time) search of a specified folder with all pdf files within that folder searched and a list produced.

Must be in an active Adobe Acrobat DC pdf file, but search can be made of any folder.

Correct answer The Real_GoodJuJu

Hi William, the logic functions you want are called 'Boolean operators'.   A search using boolean operators is called a boolean search.

Acrobat supports boolean operators, such as AND, NOT, OR etc.  i.e. London AND Manchester AND Bristol.

Look at Boolean operators in this link:  Searching PDFs, Adobe Acrobat

Good luck,

Absolutely fantastic
Just what I was looking to be able to do, including save search results to a file as well!

Thank you all..

Thanking you, sorry, I was not very clear in my discussion.

I understand search can handle a single word or part of a specific word (like "ash" is found in "crash") and a string of words.

I have not been able to stumble across any logic functions like "and" & "or".

Thanking all.

William

Yeah, that's not possible. You can only search for an exact phrase or one

word out of a list.

Sorry about providing the wrong information. This is indeed possible in Acrobat DC. It's not in older versions, which is why I got confused.

The Advanced Search command can be used to find multiple word phrases, not just single words.
