automatic hyperlinks
I do the same set of tasks each month in the process of assembling Board books for meetings held twice a month. I combine 20-50 pdfs using the individual pdf file names as the bookmarks, which works great. In the combined pdf, I have an agenda, which is first, and then 20-50 backup documents, each bookmarked Tab A-xxx, Tab B-xxx, etc. Overall, Acrobat works great for my purposes when it comes to our Board books, but there is one part of the process that is so repetitive and mindless that I think (hope!) that there must be a way to automate it.
On the agenda, which makes up the first few pages of the combined pdf, each item has next to it the letter of the tab where the backup documentation for that item can be found. I go through that agenda after I combine the pdfs and link to each tab (which is already a bookmark because the combined pdf used the individual file names). I would be so grateful if I could learn a way that I could configure the agenda beforehand so the hyperlinks to the tabs would be inserted automatically when I combine the individual pdfs. Sometimes I have 50 hyperlinks that I have to add manually because I have so many tabs. Is there any way I can revise the agenda so that where the "Tab x" appears on the agenda a hyperlink is automatically created linking to the corresponding tab in the combined pdf? This below is an example of an agenda. The Tab names in blue are what I have to manually hyperlink to bookmarks. The bookmark names are long, so I don't think I can insert the whole bookmark name in the agenda, but maybe I could shorten the bookmark names if there's a way to automatically generate hyperlinks if I use the full bookmark name in the agenda document. Thank you for any help/suggestions you can give me.
Agenda
Item 1.a Tab A
Item 1.b
Item 1.c Tab B
Item 2.a Tab C
The bookmarks panel looks something like this -
Agenda
Tab A - Minutes of the ....
Tab B - Administration Report dated ....
Tab C - etc.
