Automating color settings in PDF TOC

I have used colors for Bookmarks in PDF TOCs, using the manual process (select bookmark entries, right-click and select Properties, and set the colors there). With documents that get frequent/regular updates, this is tedious. I'm looking for a way to automate that, after the PDF has been generated. Is there a way to automate ths process, some script or other?
