Autosave location

Hello,

I would like to know if it is possible when I modify a PDF present in a temporary windows folder to save it in the same location. When I use "save" (ctrl +s) a window opens asking me where I want to save the file. I just want to save the file, I don't need to save it anywhere else. If I choose to save it in the directory where the pdf is located, a message asks me if I want to replace it...

I use Adobe "Acrobat Reader DC"

Thanks for reaching out. As described above, while saving the file you are getting the option to save as and it ask you for the location, correct?

 

This is a designed behavior, there is no way to default the file location to any particular folder in Adobe Reader.

 

You can try disabling the protected mode at startup to save a file, however, Protected View feature for PDFs is to keep your computer safe. With Protected Mode enabled, all operations required by Acrobat Reader DC to display the PDF file are run in a restricted manner inside a confined environment, the “sandbox.” For detailed info, refer to Protected View feature for PDFs (Windows), Adobe Reader

 

navigate to Edit>Preferences>Security(Enhanced)>uncheck 'Enable Protected Mode at startup'.

 

You can disable these two options in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Preferences and see if that helps. Navigate to Edit>Preferences>General>Uncheck these two options "Show online Storage when opening files" and "Show online storage when saving files"

Hello,

 

First of all I want to thank you for your explanations and help.
I can't change the folder where the documents are filed because it's a software program who store them and I don't have any controls on it.
So I tried Amal's solution and that's exactly what I'm looking for. I left the Protected mode at startup enabled, and unchecked both boxes for Show online Storage when opening files and Show online storage when saving files.

 

Thank you again for your answers and sorry for my approximate English (it's not my native language)

    Hi,

     

    You shouldnt be saving to the temporary folder.

     

    But the message you are getting is because you are saving the file with the same name. Change the filename and place it in another directory.
