Autosize for drop down list works in Acrobat but does not in the actual PDF

I've created a form with multiple drop down lists. I have selected Auto Size for the font size.  It works great while I am working in Adobe - the text is sized to fit within the cell.  However, when I open the file as a PDF (like my client would receive it) the auto size doesn't work and the client selection is too large to fit in the cell.  Am I doing something incorrect to make it work on the PDF?

Apples Preview is really bad with PDFs. Use Adobes Acrobat Reader or another etablished PDF viewer of your choice.

@Thom Parker I am testing in house before sending to any clients.  I use a Macbook and Preview to view the PDF.  Do you recommned a specific type of viewer I can suggest my clients recommend?

The problem is the PDF viewer used by the client is not compliant with the PDF specification.  Many browser and mobile PDF viewers do not properly support forms. In fact, some of them corrupt the PDF, like Apple Preview.

Which viewer are they using?
