autosize text does not resize font properly in Apple's Preview app

I have a document that resizes nicely using Acrobat and Reader, but when opened in Apple's Preview App, the auto-sizing does not work as intended.  The text disappears toward the bottom instead of making the font smaller to fit within the confines of the field or box allowed.  Is this a common complaint?  Is there a solution like "Save as ..."
