I have a PDF form created in Acrobat XI, which has a barcode with form data. But when the users is filling the form via Reader the barcode drops. What do I need to do to make sure that barcode stays when the user has Adobe Reader only.

It's a PDF417 type, a handheld barcode scanner will take the data into the application.

If you can find a font to represent it, then you could do it. Otherwise,

you can't (unless you apply the special right I mentioned).

You would need to apply a special right to the file, using a very expensive server application from the LiveCycle family.

I have been told the LiveCycle is discontinued or going to be soon. Can something be done without a very expensive add-in?

That was probably LiveCycle Designer, which is not the application I'm talking about.

What kind of barcodes are they? If it's a plain 1D symbology, like 3-of-9, you could use a text field with a special font to display it, instead of a barcode field, but that's about all that is possible.
