Question

Batch converting .pdf to .xlsx

Hello! First time poster, so please be gentle...

I need to convert a batch of pdfs to .xlsx format - It's easy to do one by one, but can I automate it? Ideally, a directory is monitored and if a new .pdf is copied to it, some "magic by Adobe" converts to a .xlsx in another directory... No need for error checking...

Can this be done? Fairly novice user, so directions to a solution or explicit instructions needed!

Thank you.

Dave

Hi Dave,

Thank you for reaching out.

As you wish to convert the batch of PDF to .xlsx format, you may use the Action Wizard tool in the Adobe Acrobat application as Bernd Alheit mentioned above. Use the steps as mentioned below:

- Open the Acrobat and go to Tools > Action Wizard.

- Select New Action > Save & Export > Save.

- Click on the arrow pointing to the right-hand pane.

- On the right-hand pane, click on Specify settings.

- In the Output options window,  select the radio button for "Export files to alternate format" under output format.

- From dropdown for Export to, select Excel workbook.

- Click on the OK and then the Save button.

As you have mentioned the application crashes when trying to access the Action wizard tool, please ensure that the application is updated to the latest version.

Try the troubleshooting steps suggested here (only for windows): https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-crashes-on-windows-os.html

If the issue still occurs, try removing the applicaiton using the cleaner tool (https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-log-collector.html) and reboot the machine. Then try installing the applicaiton from this link: https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/download-install-acrobat-subscription.html

Let us know if the issue still occurs.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

You can use the Action Wizard of Acrobat Pro.

OK... not a good start - opened up Acrobat DC - selected Action Wizard and DC crashed out / closed.

What's the exact version number of the application (You can find it out by going to Help - About Adobe Acrobat)? What's your OS version?
