Bates Numbering

I am trying to bates num. odd pages in the right header and even pages in the left header but it doesn't seem to be working.  Help!  No idea what I'm doing wrong.  Tks

As per the description above, you are not able to add bates number to a PDF as you want to add odd PDF pages in the Right header and even PDF pages in the Left header, Is that correct?
