Question

Bitmaps sometimes not appearing on pdf

Hello,

We sell a software product that prints several reports containing bitmaps. Our customer is printing those to pdf using Acrobat 11.0.22

He tells us that the reports print properly and reliably directly to his printer, but when he attempts to print to pdf, some bitmaps are missing.  The same exact bitmap prints properly on another report (where we use exactly the same code within the software to produce it.)

Is anyone aware of this issue and a possible solution? Is it a memory issue of some kind?  These bitmaps are not large, and are basically a drawn image of a barcode.

I'm attaching the two pdfs he sent us.  On one, the pdf is missing from the 4th label.  On the other, the same label is shown correctly on page 3.

Thanks.

Scott

Hello Scott,

Thanks for reporting the issue.

We have stopped support for Acrobat 11x; if possible migrate to DC for better and update results/support.

Also, still if you want to check with us for the issue in DC; Please share the original file from which these PDF were printed.

Those files will help us to help you further.

Thanks & Regards,

Swapnil Srivastava

Hi,

You need to update to its latest version 11.0.23.

If you also decide to uninstall and reinstall as a troublshooting approach you still need to update to its latest version from here :

https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotes/index.html

Thank you for your response.

However I see nothing in the release notes for 11.0.23 that references fixing a problem as the one described.

Also, Adobecare now tells me not to use Acrobat XI at all for Windows 10 - that it is incompatible and no longer supported.

Not sure whether whatever is incompatible will cause such a problem.  Has anyone else seen the problem that I described in the original post, and solved it?

Again, thanks.

Scott

Clearly you are using windows 10 with an 4 year old application that is not receiving  support from Microsoft nor Adobe.

First off, in the world of computing, maintaining a system updated is what keeps a system secured and running smooth.

The version you reported in this thread is not the latest, and this is the whole point of my reply.

Second, users of Adobe Acrobat Pro XI are reporting back to these  Adobe community forums that their issues get fixed when they reinstall and apply the latest update of that product to reflect its most current version.

Third, you are using an Adobe product that is getting phased out and reached its en-of-life.

So you won't see anymore support documentation to fix bugs and glitches.

There is no more  continued support  release cycles from the vendor.

Again, You won't see anything in the release notes that references fixing a problem because you are using a product that reached its end of life support.

However, it appears that the version 11.0.23 fixes some issues when you apply it as reported by users in these forums.

Now, you can go here:

https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/pdf-conversion-settings.html#adobe_pdf_conversion_settings

And review if the problem you are experiencing is related to PDF Conversion settings, display settings , or a PDF standard.

Hopefully someone can add more to this discussion and help with a better answer.
