Blank Adobe Acrobat opens when I open Chrome

When opening Google Chrome, it automatically opens a blanck instance of Adobe Acrobat (outside of Chrome) I've changed settings in Chrome to not Automatically open but it keeps popping up.

All searched tell you to change preferences to stop a pdf automatically opening, but this isn't the case, there's no pdf opening, just the program itself.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Cheers

Apologies for the inconvience. This issue is fixed in the latest update. Release notes - https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/continuous/dccontinuoussep2025sec.html#dccontinuousseptwentytwentyfivesec.

Please do a "Help -> Check for updates" to update to the latest version and let us know if you still see issues. Also, if you disabled the Acrobat plugin in Chrome, you can renable it.

I just resolved this by completing the following steps:

  1. Updated to latest version of Chrome
  2. Updated Acrobat
  3. Rebooted my computer

No more blank Acrobat window when I open Chrome!

Hello @james300foster

I hope you are doing well. Thanks for sharing the steps that worked for you. As the product team shared above, the issue has been addressed with the latest build of Acrobat. Win: 25.001.20672, Mac: 25.001.20668, Sept 03, 2025. Check for any pending updates from the Menu > help > check for updates, install the updates, restart the app and the machine, and try again.

Please feel free to reach out if you need any assistance.

Thanks,

Me too- I just uninstalled the Acrobat plugin, which seems to be working- but clearly not a great solution. It also keeps giving me memory errors (i've plenty RAM and Harddrive space.) I've been condidering switching browsers as a result.

Have you reinstalled the plugin to see if the fresh install helped? I really don't want to get rid of the plugin as I use it so often. It must be a problem with an update for it to just happen all of a sudden, so I'm hoping they will fix it soon!
