Then the fastest thing I can recommend is to roll back to the previous version of Acrobat DC Pro.

I thought that would be easy, but I just checked the ability to select a previous version of Acrobat for your system and discovered that the documentation promises you something you can’t get. At least in the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop, there is no option to roll back to a previous version of the app.

However all may not be lost. If you’ve updated very recently, Windows may offer you a solution:

    • Open the Windows Control Panelnot Settings. If you’re not already there, choose the Small icons or Large icons selection from the View by: options box at the upper right of the dialog box.
    • Navigate your way to the Recovery icon. click on it.
    • Select Open System Restore, then search to see if you have a restore point that precedes you doing the upgrade. If you’re lucky, you may find one to choose and roll your Windows system back to where it was before the upgrade.

Admittedly this is a low-percentage play, but this may be the only option you’ve currently got. You may also want to check out this response to another post and see if it works for you. Admittedly, I’m a bit skeptical.

Wish I had better options to offer you,

There are many reasons why that could be:

    • You can’t edit files with Adobe Reader
    • You can’t edit a PDF file that consists only of scanned image(s)
    • Your PDF file may be corrupted
    • Your PDF may have been created with restrictions prohibiting editing the file
    • You may need to delete preferences to regain capability to edit PDF files with Acrobat Standard/Pro

We can’t which, if any, of these options are relevant without a lot more information, like:

    • What type/version of Adobe Acrobat are you using?
    • What device are you using Acrobat on? Windows? Mac? Mobile?
    • Are you having problems editing any file? Or just one particular file?
    • Have you tried deleting preferences? Reinstalling the software? Any other remedial/repair tasks?

We’re end users just like you. But we can’t help you without you providing a lot more information than you’ve given us to work with.
