Bloated Acrobat app

It’s 2026 and Adobe still hasn't fixed its core bugs. It’s the most expensive software on the market, yet it runs like a legacy program. I switched to Foxit PDF Editor and it instantly solved this ridiculous disappearing text issue. Adobe isn't even worth using as a basic reader anymore—2.5 GB is way too bloated for a PDF viewer.

    Hi DrMadMu,

We are sorry to hear about your experience with Acrobat, and I completely understand why this would be frustrating, especially if a basic task like viewing or editing PDFs is interrupted by disappearing text.
What you’re describing is not expected behaviour. In Acrobat, cases where text becomes invisible but is still searchable/selectable are typically related to font handling, content layers/transparency, or rendering issues, rather than the text being permanently deleted. Would also like to clarify that Acrobat utilises 2 GB of RAM. For related information, refer here: Technical requirements

As mentioned, you have switched to another application. However, if you’d still like to give Acrobat one more try, please try the following and share the information with us:

    • Update Reader/Acrobat to the latest build. Go to Menu > Help > Check for Updates.

    • Please check if the issue occurs with particular PDFs or all.

    • Share the sample file so we can check.

    • Share the Acrobat and OS version numbers.

Let us know if you need any help.

    Thanks,

    Meenakshi
