Question

BOLD TEXT WHEN USING ADOBE PRINTER IN AUTOCAD

When using Adobe pdf as the printer in AutoCAD, texts and dimensions become really bold!

This issue has appeared recently. It's not related to the lineweight or fonts in the AutoCAD since I've tried changing all settings related to that. It's definitely something related to Adobe printer. For now I'm using .pc3 printer in AutoCAD, but would be nice if I could use Adobe pdf printer like before. Is anyone else having a similar issue or has found a solution?

Same situation is happening to me.  I also exhausted the autocad route and found no fix.  It seems to me it is an acrobat issue that started around an acrobat update in 2025.

Hi @Bagokid

Thanks for reaching out, and sorry for the trouble. Could you please confirm what the line width is in the original document? If it is less than 1 pixel, this may happen.

Also, is it possible to share the original document and the resulting PDF document with us?

If you can't share the file publicly, upload files to any cloud drive and share the link via private message. To send a Private Message - Click on Profile Avatar and on the profile page, you will see a button “Send message.”

DWG, PDF, CTB

Line weight is by layer.  Layer is TEXT set to cyan with plot style color_4.  Color_4 has a lineweight of .0110”.  Paper space is 24x36.  Preview in autocad shows correct preview.  This issue only started up this last year and worked as intended before.

Here are the snapshots of printers and also the difference in font boldness:

Is your pdf intended for viewing on-screen? Try exporting to, or saving as pdf from AutoCAD.

Thank you, but no. This is not an acceptable method for creating accurate architectural/engineering drawings. Using printer is the way to go, as shown in the snapshots above.

The issue is with the 'Adobe PDF' printer, and I'm trying to see if anyone else has the same issue. I don't need a workaround because I can already use the other printer (AutoCAD printer.pc3) to print the drawing with normal text.

Are you trying to create a pdf from AutoCAD? Have you tried exporting to, or saving as pdf from AutoCAD?

Hi Luke, I'm talking about printing an AutoCAD drawing using 'Adobe pdf' printer, like you would for a Word file when you want to create a pdf document. I'm talking about the issue of the 'Adobe pdf' printer printing texts and measurements bolder than usual.
