Broken Pdf files

Hi, 

I receive the following error message when opening a pdf file:

Attempt to register an onject with a name already in use.

I am opening this from a word file with PDFs attached as an object. It would be very important to make this work as these are official documents. I have an  Adobe Pro subcription.

Please advise.
