Butt and Swap Fields Suggestion
After many times wishing for these features I'll just throw this suggestion out there for two additional alignment features, which I will call "Butt fields" (taken from the woodworking term "butt joint") and "Swap fields." These would be likely have to be limited to any two fields simply because more than two would be mind boggling. FYI, a butt joint is a joint formed by two abutting surfaces placed squarely together. Here's a further description:
"Butt fields" would be would be most useful for two fields of the same size. It would be added to the "Align, distribute, center" menu and open a submenu with four options: Right to left, Left to right, Top to bottom, Bottom to top. The user would select two fields and choose an option. For example, selecting fields A and B, hovering on A, choosing "Right to left," would bring B to A with B's left border adjacent to A's right border, aligned at the top. Selecting fields A and B, hovering on A, choosing "Top to bottom," would bring B to A with B's bottom border adjacent to A's top border, aligned left.
"Swap fields," added to the "Align, distribute, center" menu, would also apply to only two fields. When selecting fields A and B and choosing "Swap fields" the two fields would exchange their current positions. Again, this would be most useful with two fields of the same size, and perhaps available only if A and B are the same size.
I've wished for these features often enough that I thought it may be worth posting. If this is inappropriate for this forum I would appreciate a suggestion as to a proper place to make these suggestions.
