Question

Buttons do not display as formatted

I have over 800 PDF documents I have created (in Word and then generated to PDF) and all of them have used buttons to navigate between the various files.  Everything was fine until recently and now I have several PDFs that will not display the buttons I created to navigate even though the fill and border colors are set the same as the thousands of others.  Even when I try to copy and paste a previously-created button to the misbehaving PDF, I just get a blue box, which vanishes when I return to the pan tool - the button is still there, but invisible.

YES - the Form Field is set to "Visible but doesn't print"

YES - the Border and Fill colors are set

YES - I have the label set to the text I want in the button

OS - Windows 11

Acrobe Pro V23.008.20470.0

When I went back this morning to the folder with these files, the buttons have reappeared.  BUT, the links in the tables of contents are now returning an error "This PDF cannot be viewed in Adobe or Reader, and the application will now exit."  This despite the fact the file I am navigating to opens fine when I double-click on the filename in File Explorer.  UGH.  I do not know if this is only on my machine or Everyone's I distribute these files to.

Hi @Alan S in TN

As described, you are getting the error "This PDF cannot be viewed in Adobe or Reader, and the application will now exit."  This issue is reported to our engineering team and is being worked on. The fix will be available in the future updates.
