Can I use the same install of Adobe Acrobat XI Pro on my laptop and desktop?

Do I have to deactivate the Adobe Acrobat XI Pro (Student/Teacher edition) that's on my laptop in order to install it on my desktop computer?  Am I required to purchase a second install of Acrobat?

No, you don't need to deactivate it. You're allowed two concurrent activations, as long as you don't use the application on both computers at the same time.
