Can't complete a PDF form which is indicating I need to use Adobe LiveCycle Designer

Hi,

I can't complete a PDF form I received which has a pop-up that reads "This form cannot be edited in Adobe Acrobat. Please use Adobe LiveCycle Designer to edit this form."

I am not the designer of the form, rather I am the recipient of this form which I received from an organization that has requested that I complete it.

Don't know how to resolve this in order to complete filling in the form. This is not the first time I have received a PDF form from an organization that popped up a similar message when I attempted to complete the form.

Thanks in advance.

Jay

I should let you know that I am completing the form in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.

I can complete the designated fill-ins in the form without using the Edit tool from the menu; however, since the signature and the signed date areas have not been designated as fill-ins by the form developer, I was forced to create and use the stamp in order to add my signature. There appears to be no problem in saving the form and re-opening it. But I shouldn't have to create stamps to accomplish this. It is a good thing I don't have to complete these types of forms frequently.

If the author didn't include a digital signature field then maybe they didn't want you to sign it digitally, but to print it out and sign it manually. Or they made a mistake... Either way, you should consult them before sending back the file.

DO NOT invent ways to edit a LiveCycle form. You will break it. Is this an IRS form by any chance?

I am trying to sign and date a IRS form and it is asking me to use the LiveCycle Designer.

Is there a way around this as I use this form often and have to change the date each time.

It sounds like you're trying to edit the form. You should not do that.

How exactly are you trying to sign and date it? is there a digital signature field? If not, the only way is to print it out and do it manually.

If there are no form fields in the file there's nothing you can do about it.
