Can't Copy to Paste with shortcut keys - Windows 11 Acrobat Pro

Hello,

I'm suffering a very specific issue with Acrobat Pro that I haven't been able to find anyone else describing. My job requires I fill in a pdf document for the week using their template. The document is a form with many text fields that we need to fill in or select options on it. For whatever reason the COPY shortcut key stopped working a while back. Using CTRL+C has absolutely no effect. I can select text and manually right click and copy, or use the edit option, and the CTRL+V will paste the information without any problems. But CTRL+C and CTRL+X absolutely fail to perform their regular actions. It also appears like CTRL+X deletes whatever is selected. I also have a MacBook and every shortcut key works 100%. I have no idea why on Windows it turns off. Yes, it turns off. I have uninstalled Acrobat and reinstalled it. To find the shortcut key works right after reinstalling Acrobat. Only to have the shortcut key stop working right after I close Acrobat. Would love to know why Windows is doing this, or Acrobat does it and why. I've used the repair option available within Acrobat and it does not work to correct the issue. Worse yet, the shortcut keys function 100% everywhere else except in Acrobat. The shortcut keys work 100% in every other Adobe Software program as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Divine_artworkac5c,

Hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out. We are sorry for the trouble you are experiencing.

A few things that would help narrow it down:

  • What's your exact Acrobat version/build (Help > About Adobe Acrobat)?

  • Does it happen in every PDF, or mainly in fillable form fields specifically?

  • Does the same problem show up if you log into a different Windows user account on the same machine?

While we wait on those details, a few things are worth trying:

  • Help > Check for Updates, then restart Acrobat.

  • Help > Repair Installation.

  • Reset Acrobat's preferences folder as described here https://adobe.ly/4xoiJbH

  • Check for anything else running that hooks into copy/paste system-wide, clipboard manager apps, remote desktop/VPN clients, or keyboard utility software are common culprits when Ctrl+C misbehaves in just one app.

If none of that helps, please share a small video recording of the steps you are taking and the issue as it occurs, along with the PDF file in question, so we can get this checked further.

Same here, it's slowing me down on my workload and is driving me insane, I am glad to know I am not alone with the issue.

Yes!  It's really irritating that they flood users with so many new "fluff" features and theme/layout updates that are rarely relevant or useful, but can't even get the simplest of the simple, basic functions to work properly.

Hi good_customers1577,

We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with Acrobat.

We checked the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V for copying and pasting. They work find in Acrobat. Please let us know more about the issues you are experiencing when trying to copy and paste the text.

Please refer to the information on keyboard shortcuts for Acrobat in the following help document: https://adobe.ly/4kgtm9R
