Can't edit comments (using Mac)

I have used Acrobat reader for many years and suddenyl found I can't edit my comments any more. If I do the edits don't save. I can add new comments or sticky notes, etc. Also I have two Mac labtops and the problem started on both of them. If I send my files to someone else they can edit comments.

I have reinstalled Adobe Acrobat on both computers but the problem continued. In a windows computer there is a preferences option on the edit tab but not in adobe and I believe there is a security question there. I have used the enhanced security box on the preferences tab located under 'Adobe Reader' but that made no difference.

    Thanks for reaching out. As described above, you are not able to edit the comments  using Adobe Acrobat Reader, correct?

     

    We need some more information for a better understanding: 

     


    As you have already tried to turn off the protected view without any success and other people having the same documents are able to add comments, please try the following steps below and see if that helps:

    It happens with any pdf file I have tested, so I assume true for all files. It is also try on both my laptops. The version I have is 2019.012.20036 I downloaded it a few days ago so I assume there are no updates - I reinstalled it after I first discovered the problem. I have downloaded the ‘Adobe Reader DC and Acrobat DC Cleaner tool for Mac version 1 and then reinstalled Reader. The problem continues. If I open a pdf file, change one of the comments, the changes are not saved. Though I just discovered something. If I change a comment AND add a new sticky note the document will save changes to the comments!!
