Can't open Acrobat DC and any PDF-File

Hello, I have some problems with Acrobat DC and PDF Files. It started as failure to open PDFs, PDFs on emails in MS Outlook would not open. Then I tried to open PDFs in Documents folders - got a message "Windows cannot find [file name clicked on]. Make sure you typed the name correctly then try again". Then found I cannot even open Acrobat DC and Dreamweaver 2020 as a free standing program by clicking in program list.

Installed on Windows 10 Pro, build 1903

The problem occurred after windows security update of adobe flash player (KB4561600) and cumulative windows update (KB4560960)

Help please.

I have restored the last windows quality updates and now everything works fine. I hope the windows update isn't important...

So what happens when you try to open the application on its own, exactly?

I have had a similar experience. “File not found” errors when trying to start Acrobat, or even open a PDF file. I get the impression that Windows 10 has done something aggravating to the access permissions of the Acrobat executable and those of PDF files in general. (My background is mainframes and UNIX, so I’m a bit hazy about the Windows security model.)

Anyway, I have found a partial workaround, which at least enables Acrobat to run. Find the executable (Acrobat.exe) which on my system is in “C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat” and copy it to a file in the same directory with a different name, say Acrobat_a.exe. You will need administrator privileges to do this. Make a link to this new file by creating a shortcut on the desktop, and you should find that double-clicking the shortcut will start Acrobat. The file associations won’t work, but at least the program is running.
