can't open excel file embedded in pdf document

For years I have received pdf files with excel files embedded in them.  The excel file was represented by a paper clip. I just clicked on the clip and then was able to save the file in excel format.  Since buying a new laptop with Windows 10 I am unable to get the embedded files to open or save.  I have disabled the "enable protection" box in Preferences, and set the "Trust Manager" to allow files to be opened.  I still can't get it to work.  I have also added the folder I'm using to my Norton 360 file of approved folders not to disable scripts.  What should I do?

Since this does not seem to be an Acrobat problem (you are using Acrobat to open the PDF?) I suggest you go to the Search bar at the top of http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/default.aspx to find Windows help
