Can't open some PDFs in Acrobat XI Pro and Reader

Acrobat XI Pro and Reader in my PC cannot open two PDF files (~1MB). There's no error/alert msg popped up. When double click the files, acrobat open but stay in start view.

The software works fine and has no problem opening all other PDF files including large ones. The two files are also intact and can be opened in other computers (by same Adobe software).

Has anyone had similar cases before? How to fix the issue?

You're trying to open with double click, so let's try something different. What happens if you try to open the file, instead, using Open from the File menu?

I tried. still no response.

Tried repair installation. no help
