Can't print any PDF using Acrobat X Pro or Acrobat Reader

I can print a Word or Excel file but not a PDF. The first error that appears when I try to print is "The document could not be printed" when I click ok a second error opens "There were no pages selected to print"

I've tried to print just one page, rebooting the computer (Dell XPS 8910 on Win 10), rebooting the printer ( HP 7640). I have the latest software and drivers.

None of those proposed solutions were either applicable or a fix as it's an HP printer, don't want to print as an image, deleting the preference folder didn't work, documents aren't in the print queue and the printer is online.
