Can't re-install Acrobat X Pro

Simple enough; I need to install my Acorbat X Pro on a new computer. After installation it fails 'A problem has occured with the licensing of this product' quoting error code 213:10

How can I continue to use my software license ?

Please don't suggest upgrading to a subscription to Creative Cloud, I don't want any subscription-based service as I don't use this enough to warrant the cost. I would like Adobe to tell me how I can continue to use the software I already have.

Hi @Ken31657916l91h

Adobe Acrobat X is an EOL application it is not supported on the latest version of Mac and Windows OS. For more information please check the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/end-of-support-acrobat-x-reader-x.html

Hope this information will help.

Well bluntly, no, that's not really any help at all. I already said I don't want to upgrade. Basically from what I find elsewhere, Adobe have shafted anyone using Acrobat X. They've removed the servers authenticating the install and not removed the requirement from the application. Cheap guys, really cheap. I solved my problem by downgrading to Acrobat 9 (which I also have a full license for), it's sufficient for my needs and doesn't require a server for registration.

I certainly won't upgrade to a subscription and this just confirms me in my opinion to avoid Adobe software as far as I possibly can.

Acrobat 9 also requires activation, so what you're saying is odd... I do agree with everything else, though!

Adobe should have provided an activation-free version of the installer for people with a valid license, or just kept the activation servers running. It shouldn't be too difficult for a multi-billion dollars company to maintain a couple of lousy servers...
