Can't sign document in Acrobat 9 standard

I am using Acrobat 9 Standard.  I have been able to "Sign document" but now that option is grayed out.  How do I get this feature back?

Hi richardb75195885,

Sorry for the delay in response.

Try closing all pdfs, relaunch Acrobat and try again. If that doesn't work, try placing signature on the pdf using "Place Signature" option under Sign.

Also, try with another pdf file and see if the Sign option works.
