Can't write individual Hour?

What am I doing wrong?  Yes I searched for help, but I'm not seeing a solve.

I want to be able to calculate hours, but that's a discussion for later.

I have a Text Field that I want to be Formatted to Hour as "h" only.  So I can write 1, and that's it.  But when I try to just enter "1" in there, I get "The value entered does not match the format of the field "

Thanks for your time!

Thank you.  But if I use the number format, I can't calculate hours (8+5=1 in hours, rather than 13 in numbers)

It took me a moment to understand how 8+5 can equal 1... This is a very confusing notation method. There's a reason we use either 24-hour format or add AM/PM to the 12-hour format.

What you're trying to do is possible (see Nesa's comment), but I would not recommend you do it like that.

Thanks all for your help.  Regarding my initial question, I found the answer is rather simple.  I have the Format noted above as "h" but when I tried to just write "1" in the field, it came out as Wrong Format.  What I needed to write is "1:00" and then it appears as "1" in the field.

Much appreciated on the help for the calculation, Nesa

Why do you need format for just one number?

Hi Nesa, it's going on a Timecard, and we write in each space the hour.  So I'd write 9 for call (start) 1 for lunch 2 for return and 8 for wrap.

That's not an hour value. Just use the Number format.
