I use Acrobat to just read documents, I would like to have a simple UI without the tools, pop-ups, AI analysis tools, the Tool bar, the top bar and ONLY show the PDF or Text file. I don’t need the all this UI bloat. I just need to READ A DOCUMENT. can we just do this by default please?

    Hello @TheFosterHouse

I hope you are doing well, and thank you for reaching out.

While Acrobat does not currently offer a permanent “reader‑only minimal UI by default”, you can use the Read Mode or Full Screen Mode to view the PDFs.

Option 1: Read Mode (recommended for everyday reading)

Only the document remains, with a small, semi‑transparent navigation bar.

    How to enable:

    • Menu (Windows)/Acrobat (Mac) > View > Read Mode.

See this article for more details: Viewing PDFs and viewing preferences.

    Option 2: Full Screen Mode.

    Shortcut:

    • Ctrl + L (Windows)
    • Cmd + L (macOS)

I hope this helps, and if you wish to share your feedback/observations, you can use the Acrobat Wish form to share the feedback with the product team: https://acrobat.uservoice.com/

    Regards,

    Anand Sri.

Why can’t this be default? Put a button for this mode on the main tool bar of the UI. We don’t need 90% of the bloat. Make this even easier to get to and have an option to make this the default viewing mode for any document. There are 37 sections in the bloated preferences and not one has the ability to make this viewing mode default.

    Hello @TheFosterHouse

There is currently no option to make Read Mode or Full Screen the default for all PDFs in Acrobat. PDFs control their own initial view (via document properties), and Acrobat intentionally does not override that globally.

Also, the Read Mode and Full Screen are manual modes by design, meant to be entered when needed, not enforced as a default UI state.
