Can you increase the character limit in drop down menu items

I am creating a form in InDesign and Acrobat.

Drop down menu items can be two or three sentences long.

Acrobat cuts the list item off at 100 characters.

Can I increase the maximum character per length?

If not what solutions exist for having multiple line answers as part of a door down list?

Hello @jmillsaps13709114

I hope you're doing well, and we apologize for the delayed response and the trouble.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. To raise a feature request with the product team about the current limitation, you can use the Adobe Wish form

As a workaround, instead of using Auto, manually set a fixed font size for the drop-down field:

  • Open the PDF in Acrobat.
  • Go to All Tools > Prepare Form > Select the drop-down field > Properties.
  • Under the Appearance tab, set a specific Font Size (e.g., 10pt or 12pt).

This ensures consistent font size across all selections, though it may cause longer items to truncate or overflow. See this article for more information: https://adobe.ly/3JuQzIr

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Change font size to AUTO unfortunately.  Does not look professional b/c then the fonts are all different sizes based on which drop down they select.  I wish the Adobe Programmers would add under the OPTIONS tab the character limit so we could select that and also select the font size we want on our document.

There's no such limit I'm aware of. I just created a drop-down with the full text of your message (~300 characters) and it worked fine.

The limitations are by the field size and font size. If you create a field large enough and/or set the font size to Auto then it should fit any length of text.

Here's the field I created:
