Question

Cannot combine/merge fillable PDF’s; Acrobat says I can’t, because “fields are repeated.”

I created my first interactive form.  Tried to combine with another PDF.  After I clicked "Combine," message told me it couldn't Combine, because the interact form contained 2 fields with the same name, and I have to save to Portfolio.  That does not suit my need in this situation.  Can someone explain or point me to a source that can explain the "fields have the same name" problem?  I will be grateful.  Peter

Also, you can't have two fields with the same name but of different types. That is probably what's preventing you from merging the files.

PDF Pro is not an Adobe product.  But in all cases you need to know the rules of PDF; if two fields have the same name, then they will have the same value. People who merge forms frequently overlook this and end up with a huge mess, the same form repeated over and over.

Should have mentioned I'm using PDF 2017 Pro.
