Cannot create pdf from scanner

I was trying to create a pdf from scanner, which worked on Friday, and today, Monday, I get an unknown image format error.  I tried two different scanners, rebooted the computer, and did the repair installation, nothing works.  I can scan driectly from the scanner to the computer, and then open the file in Adobe.
