Cannot find temporary file - Lost data when file wouldn't save and then crashed

Hi! I am on a mac and used Acrobat to edit a document with over one hundred pages. I did a significant amount of editing and then realized I should hit save. When I did, an error popped up saying, "this is open in another window and cannot save" and then the document crashed. It was 'loading' for hours when I was hopeful it could still recover.

I eventually forced quit Acrobat and I am looking for the temporary files. I have the auto-save setting on. But I cannot find anywhere in my mac where temporary files are saved. Any suggestions? Other programs will automatically reopen documents that weren't saved if my laptop restarts.

I am about ready to cut my losses and start over, putting hours in to recreate what I lost, but I am worried I still have this issue and the same thing could happen to me again because I don't understand what I did wrong.

@M379653472l9y chances are you need to start again. Lesson learn...always save! Next time, look in the recent files list. Sometimes even if it crashes, it will still show a recent file. On your MAC, do as search on your Mac's hard drive for this folder, Recovered Files, It's a long shot, but worth checking.
