Cannot open Adobe Acrobat. Keeps requesting Adobe Application Manager

Everytime I try to open a PDF file or Adobe Acrobat itself, a window pops up requesting me to download a new copy of Adobe Application Manager, because it is apparently missing or damaged. But I have already downloaded it, deleted it, re-downloaded it, logged out and in, turned my computer off and on again, but nothing seems to fix it. Any ideas what could be the issue?
