Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described you are unable to open the PDF file and getting the error 'the file is damaged'

There can be many reason of PDF file corruption such as Sudden power failure, viruses, Improper Downloading, System malfunction or incorrect creation process.

Please check out the steps shared in the help page Resolve damaged document error when opening PDF files and see if that works for you.

Note: Adobe Acrobat XI is an EOL application https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/end-of-support-acrobat-xi-reader-xi.html

Regards

Amal

Open one file in a text editor like Notepad. What can you see there?
