Question

Cannot open PDF in Acrobat Pro latest version due to invalid color space - have tried preflight fixes and get "Operation not permitted". Tried optimization and conversion - no results returned just blank pages - need help, please.

I have seen the post to another user with suggested steps and I have tried all the suggested steps.  Also checked to see if message was created using a different App - it was created with Acrobat - the PDF is from a Korean source and maybe the Korean characters confuse or throw off when trying to open into what is normally an English/western version of Acrobat?

I wouldn’t suspect the Korean characters by themselves. The “invalid color space” message points more toward something inside the PDF’s color/profile data.

Since Preflight fixups are returning “Operation not permitted” and optimization/conversion are producing blank pages, I’d avoid running more destructive fixups on the original file. First make a copy of the PDF and try Preflight > Options > Create Inventory. The inventory can show the color spaces, ICC profiles, fonts, images, and other resources used by the PDF, which may help identify the object causing the problem.

If you can get a Preflight inspection to run, the exact invalid color space/profile reported would also be useful. Adobe notes that Preflight can inspect color spaces and other PDF objects, and color conversion should be done carefully when the source PDF has unusual color data.

If possible, I’d also test the same file in another PDF viewer. If it opens there, that would help confirm the PDF is partially readable and the issue is specifically with how Acrobat is processing that object. If it fails there too, the PDF itself may be malformed or corrupted.

@Adept_neighborsbe6a are you able to open and view the PDF through a web browser?
