Cannot search or select text in Acrobat 7 Pro after adding and undoing comments

I have a document that is in PDF Version 1.5 (Acrobat 6.x). When I open it in Acrobat 7 Pro I can search, select text, and add comments just fine.

 

After adding a comment and then undoing it I can no longer search, select text, or add comments.

 

I then opened the document in Adobe Reader DC to continue adding comments, but now it is no longer searchable in Acrobat 7 Pro. The document is still searcheable ion Reader DC.

 

Any suggestions how to "fix" the file? I tried to OCR just in case the file had somehow turned into a graphic, but got a message that the document was already text (not surprising since the file size had not changed).

    My simple guess is that since Acrobat 7 was released in 2004, my guess is that you are not using the operating system that it was designed to be used in. 

     

    It has reached "End of line" many years ago and Adobe will not be making any updates to run it in more recent computers or operating systems. 

     

    If you really want to continue using Acro-7 you might have an easier time looking for an older computer and/or an earleir OS.
