Question

Cannot stop PDF's opening in Internet Explorer (IE)

Hello
Whenever I try to open a PDF file, it opens in IE. I don't got the addon for Adobe Reader or DC, even under "All addons". I got it to work from Chrome, but IE still shows the files in the browers. Any suggestions?

Hi Testolus

We are sorry for the trouble. As described you want to stop the PDF from opening in the IE.

Please try the following steps and see if that helps:

1. Start Internet Explorer and click the "Tools" gear icon to open the Tools drop-down list.

2. Click "Manage Add-ons" from the list to open the Manage Add-ons window.

3. Click "Toolbars and Extensions" in the Add-on Types box and then click the "Show" drop-down box to reveal the list of options.

4. Select "All Add-ons" to display the list of add-ons in Internet Explorer. Scroll down the list until you find "Adobe PDF Reader."

5. Click "Adobe PDF Reader" and then click the "Disable" button.

6. Click "Close" to close the window.

Hello and thanks for the fast reply.

As mentioned I already tested this. But I checked on multiple users, and they are all missing the Adobe PDF Reader addon, even when turned on the "All Add-ons" option in IE. Uninstalled Adobe Pro DC and installed Adobe Reader DC. Same error. Reinstalled Adobe Pro DC, still the same. The option is missing.

Hey there

I am sorry to hear that the issue is still unresolved. As its working fine in chrome please try to check for any pending updates for the IE  and try updating them and see if that works.

Let us know how it goes
