Question

Cannot Use Sign in Acrobat Pro DC on Secured Documents

Posted this in the Sign forum, but no responses....this forum seems to be more active, so hoping for some assistance as we have exhausted all attempts.  Thank you.

Hoping someone can help solve this mystery.  We have documents that have digital signature fields in them.  Normally, we can just go to the Sign tools on the right-hand in Acrobat Pro DC and use Sign to process the documents with workflow.

However, this fails on every document that is password-protected (secured), no matter how we set the preferences.  Even when we have it set so that it shows everything as 'Allowed', it will not work with Sign.  This does not make sense to us, as this is all Adobe processing and parameters.  The same files work perfectly when you completely remove the pw protection.  Put it back on and it does not work again.  Tried on multiple machines, different users, various documents.  The Sign tools just do not run when it is a secured document.

If you want to know why we secure them, it is just to keep people from changing pre-set fields, moving things, etc...the usual reasons.  Can someone help?

Also, we did try a solution in a similar thread that said to add the signature field from the tools on the right-hand column.  Did not help.

Thanks

Hi, thanks....the issue is that the documents are stored on an internal server/employee webpages so that people can always access the files as needed.  So people across the company are using them.  They cannot be un-protected each time for every employee..thousands of people.

From your reply, though, it seems that Adobe Sign does not work with Adobe's own password protection process?  That seems really odd, no?

Hi, can someone please verify this?  Someone from Adobe, that can validate that secured documents cannot be used in Sign?  Perhaps also explain why Adobe has this process that does not work with their own security protocols?  I need to be able to convey this.  Thanks.

Is there a way on here to contact Adobe employees directly?  Tried the contact us options but it says you need to go to your admin, and our administrators do not know the answer (I have been assigned to figure it out!).
