Question

CC fonts won't embed

I need to create a PDF from a Publisher doc (don't ask!).  I'm using the Adobe PDF printer to do this, and therefore, Distiller.

I'm using the Source Sans font installed via CC.

On my PC, this works correctly.  On my laptop, the Source Sans font won't embed, and is substituted with Courier.  The error in the distiller log is as follows:

%%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
SourceSansPro-Regular not found, using Courier.

I have a CC licence that includes Acrobat, which is installed and up to date.

How do I fix this?

You should be saving PDF directly from Publisher's Save As dialog. It has options for Commercial Press setting including bleed and crop marks. There is no need to print to PDF this day and age.

Its for the web, your answer is therefore incorrect

The export to PDF from Publisher (or save-as) will allow you to pick from several options, either a high quality or small size PDF, you can also choose custom settings. Check your PDF in Acrobat to confirm all fonts are embedded, (File> Properties> Fonts) all should say embedded or embedded subset. The "minimum size" setting can be used for on-line viewing, but any setting will well work on-line, as long as the fonts are embedded.

What is the difference between both machines?

I seams that the Source sans fonts are also available from Google: https://fonts.google.com/?query=source+sans

It's a workaround, not exactly a solution to install those fonts from there.

This is the workaround I used.  Really disappointed that distiller not working with CC licenced fonts.

Be sure that the Source Sans is installed in your laptop, in the Fonts folder.

It looks like CC fonts aren't installed in that folder - I don't know where they are installed...
