CD index link to .html in subfolder

Question

I have a CD with a PDF file that serves as Index. This file links to several PDF files in subfolders -> these work fine on Windows as well as MacOS with Acrobat DC/Reader. There is a link (Open File: cdname:Subfoldername:filename.html) to a .html file in a subfolder that does not open correctly anymore on mac -> safari shows only some text elements and file:///.file/id=[number] as path/empty page in firefox. It works fine on Windows and has been working in the past (CD published in 2014) for both platforms. Any ideas?

Safari (and many other browsers, unfortunately) uses an internal PDF

plugin, which often has problems. Don't use it.

Open the file in Adobe Acrobat or Reader for best results.
