Change dropdown menu to open on clicking anywhere in the bar

Hi all,

Is it possible to open a dropdown menu by clicking anywhere within the bar? I have created a form and added all the required options within the dropdown using javascript but would like to open the menu on a click as opposed to the button on the right of the box. The alternitive would be to move the dropdown button from the right of the menu to the left.
I have spent the last week looking through forums and searching for a solution that I think may not be there.
Can someone advise if what I am trying to achieve is even possible

You can't change how the actual dropdown field works. but you can use a popup menu instead of a dropdown.
