Change in "Recent Files" behavior since version 2025.001.20630

Since updating to Adobe Acrobat Reader 2025.001.20630 (Windows 10, 64-bit), we have noticed a change in the behavior of the “Recent Files” list:

  • Saved PDF files only appear in the list after they have been opened at least once in Acrobat.

  • In previous versions, certain saved PDFs (e.g., from attachments or portfolios) seemed to appear immediately in the list, even without explicitly opening them.

  • We are aware that email attachments from temporary folders have already been excluded for a long time – that is not new to us.

Questions to Adobe:

  • Is this behavior a deliberate change introduced in version 2025.001.20630?

  • Or is it a bug/side effect of the update?

  • If intentional, is there any way to configure this behavior (e.g., via settings, registry, or preferences)?

Thank you in advance for clarifying.

System environment:

  • Windows 10 Pro (22H2)

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader Version 2025.001.20630 (Continuous Track, 64-bit)

Hi visitor101,

Thank you for reaching out and reporting this.

We see that you are using an old version. The recent list had some issues, which were addressed in the updates.

Please try updating the application to the latest version. In Acrobat, go to Menu > Help > Check for updates. For more information on updates, refer to the following help page: https://adobe.ly/47SRqga

Let us know if that resolves the issue or if you experience the same behaviour.

Thanks,

Meenakshi
