Characters are missing when I type quickly with “Add Text”. This problem happened after the update to Adobe Acrobat 2026.002.21901 (64-bit).

As of today the issue seemed to have solved on its own, and I don’t experience the “dropped letters” anymore. Still I hope that I helped signaling an issue that could occur again to me or to others

Just to corroborate: I am also having “dropped keystrokes” in the same version 2026.002.21901. I type 150 WPM; which I freely admit is a humblebrag, but also hopefully helps with diagnosing the issue. If a solution is found with flaminia or a patch can be made; much appreciated!

It happens with every PDF, but on the pages with notext and images, initially it’s fine. But when I start writing on a page that has a lot of text and images, it starts dropping characters immediately, and when the problem starts it occurs also on the white pages

Unfortunately I tried the smooth text change and it didn’t help. My windows version is: 25H2 (build SO 26200.9457). Windows 11 home. This happens in every PDF. Since english is not my mother language, I’ve written in italian with the original text (without the missing letters) above. You can see the altered words also because they become underlined with the red underlining. Also by doing this tests I noticed that it happens sooner on the pages that already have a lot of text and images. But when it starts, it happens also in the empty pages

Thank you for the detailed report, and I'm sorry for the trouble with the dropped characters.

You've already ruled out page cache, New Acrobat, and Protected Mode, so one more setting worth trying is Smooth Text rendering, since that's separate from those and has caused similar keystroke/rendering issues in the past

1. Go to Preferences (Ctrl, Cmd+K)

2. Select Page Display on the left.

3. Under the Rendering section, toggle between different options in the Smooth Text dropdown.

4. Restart Acrobat and test again with the Add Text tool.

If the Smooth Text change doesn't help, could you also confirm your Windows version and whether this happens on every PDF or only certain ones? That will help narrow down whether it's font-related or a broader rendering issue. Also, a small video recording of the steps you are taking and the issue as it occurs would be very helpful.
