Choosing between the current and previous Acrobat interfaces

Why? Why do you "creators" feel a need to completely change the layout of toolbars, etc. in a program?! Do you have nothing to do so you just search out what you can do to aggravate us? Adobe Acrobat DC is now TOTALLY different in the toolbar layouts! WHY???

Hi all,

How do I switch between the current and previous Acrobat interfaces?
Acrobat lets you choose between the current and previous (classic) interface, so you can use whichever fits your workflow (where the option is supported in your version).

Switch to the previous (classic) interface:

Windows: Menu (hamburger, upper-left) > Disable new Acrobat
macOS: View > Disable new Acrobat

When prompted, select Restart to relaunch Acrobat in the previous interface. To return, select View > Enable new Acrobat and restart again.

Don't see "Disable new Acrobat"?
The option depends on your Acrobat version. First, update to the latest release: Menu > Help > Check for updates, then restart Acrobat and look again.

Why does Acrobat offer two interfaces?
The current experience groups tools into workflow-based categories (editing, commenting, signing, organizing, and sharing) to make common tasks easier to find across desktop, web, and mobile.
Adobe continues to refine the experience and provides the option to switch between the current and previous interfaces where supported.

I can see some others got as upset as myself. Thanks for the option to revert to the old interface! I couldn't find anything in the new one, which is very unproductive.

Could not agree more. i use 2 different CAD software packages and 4 different programming enviroments all with user interfaces that are different. i do not need to learn a new enviroment for Adobe reader. i just view datasheets i have no need for anything else. STOP STOP changing the interface, it is not appreciated! Bored programmers are becoming a major problem. if it arn't broke don't fix it.

Those saying just return to the classic view kind of ignore the fact that to even do that 1) you would not normally expect an option to reverse a new UI, 2) you would have to hunt to find the button to do it, or 3) you would have to search online for a solution. That is not intuitive. And the new format UI starts with shifting everything from where you expect it to be intuitively. Adobe saying "we have tried to ensure all tools & features currently supported retain their familiar functionalities and workflows as they did in the previous version" rings hollow if users are struggling to even find those functionalities in the first place because the new interface moved them all over the place and hid them behind unlabeled icons. Stated simply, there's a reason so many people are angry about this change.

Who's bright Idea at Adobe was to bury the Zoom menu??? I can't stand the new layout and I'm so happy there's a way to disable it.

Thank you so much for sharing how to disable the new format. It is awful. I spend a lot of my time doing simple editing of drawings on acrobat and it had become horrible to do with the new format. If its not broken it doesn't need fixing

Just wanted to add a reply to this, as a longtime user I can't stand the "new" acrobat and DISABLE it on all my computers. I hate it. I don't know who designed it but they have no concept of UI design.
